ONVALLA and AMR Asia Build Power Rail Installation Vehicles for Bangkok’s Pink and Yellow Monorail Lines

ONVALLA Co., Ltd. and AMR Asia Co., Ltd. jointly designed a “Power Rail installation vehicle” for Thailand’s first straddle monorail mass transit lines: the Yellow Line (Lat Phrao–Samrong) and the Pink Line (Khae Rai–Min Buri). The Power Rail is the main power supply for the trains on both lines, and the vehicles are used to carry and install it along the guideway.

How Is Each Installation Set Configured?

The vehicle’s drive system was designed to run on a generator that powers electric motors. Each installation set consists of two vehicles:

  • A small installation vehicle, used to store the tools and equipment needed to install the Power Rail.
  • A large installation vehicle, used to carry the Power Rail and its accessories, which are up to about 11 metres long.

Installation Progress

The first Power Rail installation set was installed at the Main Depot of the Pink Line project at the end of September 2020, with the second set scheduled for the Main Depot of the Yellow Line in early October 2020. The plan was to install all eight sets by the end of 2020, so that vehicles bearing the ONVALLA name would run overhead along Lat Phrao, Ram Inthra, Chaeng Watthana and Srinakarin roads.
